ZWO Seestar S50 Pro Smart Telescope

The Seestar S50 Pro is a smart telescope that brings the optics, camera and motorised mount together in one compact unit weighing 2.8 kg. You place it outside, connect your phone, choose a target in the app and tap Go To. The telescope finds the object, tracks it and stacks the images for you.

It is the Pro version of the Seestar S50, with a 50 mm aperture, two 4K cameras, a bigger battery and a few new modes for longer sessions.

What you get
50 mm telephoto lens, 260 mm focal length, f/5.2, with a four element apochromatic design and ED glass for rounder stars and less colour fringing
4K telephoto camera (1/1.2 inch sensor) for the Moon, planets, Sun and deep sky objects
4K wide angle camera (63° field of view) for starfields, constellations, star trails and Milky Way shots
Built in filters: UV/IR cut, a dual band light pollution filter and a dark frame filter
Plan Mode, which sets up a shooting plan for the night, including multiple targets
Equatorial Mode for longer exposures, up to 60 seconds, once polar alignment is done
One tap editing in the app, including star reduction, star removal and noise reduction
Constellation recognition and an AI assistant that can go to a target when you say its name
10,000 mAh battery, up to 9 hours of runtime under ZWO’s test conditions
128 GB internal storage, about 100 GB usable
Works with N.I.N.A. through ASCOM Alpaca for those who want to go further
Tripod included, with two adjustable leg angles

What to expect from Indian cities
From Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and other cities, the Moon, planets and bright star clusters are the best targets. Bright nebulae like Orion are possible with the built in filter. The Sun can be viewed only with the magnetic solar filter fitted. Faint galaxies and the Milky Way need dark skies, so a trip outside the city helps a lot.
